Public Testimony Points at Hypocrisy in Calabasas

This is a copy of public comment submitted by a citizen at the Calabasas City Council meeting on Wednesday, June 27. 

Hypocrisy is alive and well in the City of Calabasas.

I would like to address item 2 from the last council meeting on June 13th   2012.  This was the nomination for the appointment of a commissioner by Councilmember Martin and I was appalled at the hypocritical way in which this was handled by the Mayor and the remaining councilmembers.

Senator Pavley’s Homeowner Bill of Rights Approved

The California State Legislature approved two bills today, Senate Bill 900 and Assembly Bill 278, which will enact the California Homeowner Bill of Rights.

Senator Fran Pavley jointly authored Senate Bill 900, which is designed to provide a more fair and reasonable process for Californians struggling to stay in their homes. Almost three million Californians have already lost their homes through foreclosure. “We are doing everything we can to help our communities recover from this terrible economic recession”, she said.

LONG TIME SANTA MONICA MOUNTAIN ACTIVIST MARGOT FEUER DIES

With great sadness, the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation reports that long time Santa Monica Mountain activist Margot Feuer has passed away. She was 89 years old. Margot was a true warrior leading a triumphant grassroots movement in the 1950s & 1960s to protect open spaces. Margot, along with Sue Nelson and Jill Swift is credited with galvanizing the movement that helped make the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area a reality in 1978. Continue reading
