Excerpted from AB 1486 – “This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are: In order to ensure that the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System (LA-RICS) is able to meet strict deadlines that are required to access millions of dollars in federal grants that have been awarded to the LA-RICS, it is necessary that this act take effect immediately.”

Sherman Oaks, CA – Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) proudly announced that California State Parks is restoring sections of the Backbone Trail in Topanga State Park using federal funds he secured for trail improvements along the 65-mile Backbone Trail. The Backbone Trail, portions of which are owned by the National Park Service and California State Parks, traverses the Santa Monica Mountains from Pacific Palisades to Point Mugu.
The California Fish and Game Commission removed Dan Richards as its president last night, months after he came under fire for killing a mountain lion in Idaho. They voted unanimously to replace Richards with Commissioner Jim Kellogg, who will now serve as president.
The Federation salutes and says good-bye to long-time Calabasas Planning Commissioner, Gary Klein. Gary passed away on July 31st due to injuries he suffered from a recent car accident. Gary was an active member of the Calabasas community and most certainly one of the most knowledgeable planning executives the city has ever had the privilege of sitting on its Planning Commission.
After much thought and with the encouragement of his family and many supporters throughout the city from his Right To Vote Initiative, Mic Farris has decided to run for Thousand Oaks City Council this November.
