Megamansion on Mulholland – CDP Appealed

APPEAL FILED …. On Monday, August 29, the Federation filed an appeal with Los Angeles County Regional Planning objecting to the ‘hearing officer’ approval of a CDP on Aug. 16, 16, 2016, for a 7400 square foot megamansion on Mulholland Highway: Coastal Development Permit No. 201500043. Project No. R2015-00871-(3)

The property is located within our Santa Monica Mountains Local Coastal Program – in the Mulholland Scenic Corridor in the Cold Creek watershed (APN 4455-042-015). It has impacts to the scenic highway and public trails – looming approximately 7440 square feet – on 1.64 acres. (The new SMMLCP zoning is R-C-20 – Rural Coastal – 20 acre minimum area required). This is one of four lots in a parcel map apparently approved by the Coastal Commission in 1990 with nothing being built to date. This property is parcel no. 1 of this subdivision.

The appeal allows the project to be heard by and in front of the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) – giving the Commission and the public a chance to weigh in on size, location, and height – to maximize the protection of public resources. We believe the project as currently proposed is inconsistent with the LCP, which stipulates among other things, resource protection has priority over development. It should be on the RPC agenda late October or early November.
