Last night Senator Steinberg parked SB-731 until January of 2014 – thus, making it a two year Bill (so, no action until January 2014).
Another Bill SB-743 however, which specifically deals with relaxing CEQA for the King’s Arena project – did pass out of the Assembly Local Government Committee and is eligible to be heard on both the Assembly and Senate floors today. Governor Brown’s office made a special request to the Committee to take two “broad provisions from SB-731 and amend them into SB-743.
Environmental Quality Act – SB-731 is cited as the “CEQA Modernization Act of 2013.”
