Which Approach Solves our State’s Complex Water Issues? 

Agoura Hills, CA – December 19, 2013 – The Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation (LVHF) is pleased to announce that it is hosting a Santa Monica Mountains comprehensive water forum on January 15, 2014, where alternative plans for solving California’s complex water issues will be presented and debated.

How do we work together as Californians to improve wildlife habitat and stabilize water supplies from the troubled Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta – the source of water for 25 million people (including us) and three million acres of farmland from San Jose to San Diego?

However we decide to resolve decades of conflict between northern and southern California, water demand and habitat conservation; it will be the most ambitious and expensive water development and habitat preservation project ever undertaken in our great state.

THE ALTERNATIVES: What are the costs, environmental impacts and the best science – of two conveyance tunnels, one tunnel or no tunnels in the Delta? Experts disagree. Proponents of the most supported alternatives will present their plans and debate their merits, including –

1. The Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP)

Presented by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California

2. The Portfolio Alternative

Presented by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

3. The Responsible Exports Plan

Presented by the Environmental Water Caucus (EWC)
